Marjolein
I had to take some time of from the modern company I was in because I was too busy with the rehearsals for a play I was in. Because of that, I'm staying out until after their performance in March. I'm getting a whole new schedule because of that. The minimum classes I'll be taking will be 3 ballet classes, 1 jazz class, 1 tap class and 1 floor barre a week. Whenever i have time I add up to 3 more ballet classes, another jazz class and a modern class. Is this a good schedule? My goal is to do something in musical theater. Is it beneficial to do more than 1 ballet class in a day. I found a school that teaches a daily afternoon ballet class, that I can take before going to my other school and taking my evening class. And how much jazz should I add? Is 1 to 2 advanced classes a week enough, or should that be more? I'm not taking much modern now, because after March, I'm joining the saturday classes of the company again, which is a ballet class and 2 hours of modern workshops or masterclasses. Is there anything I could improve about this schedule? Link to comment
vrsfanatic
What a busy schedule for someone who is in rehearsal for a play! I am impressed with your discipline and organizational skills. I am not one who advocates more than one good ballet class a day, but I know many who do. If the one class is well constructed, it should have everything in it that one needs for the day. You may benefit from the three additional ballet classes a week if they are spread out so that you are taking ballet class six days a week. Merde in your play! Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted January 7, 2005 Administrators Report Share Posted January 7, 2005 This sounds like quite a schedule to me! And I totally agree with vrs about the one ballet class a day. The other classes are just as important for you, since you are aiming for musical theathre. Link to comment
Marjolein
Actually, I'm finishing the play just now. Today is our last performance. I couldn't take class at all during rehearsal, because I spent all day at school and then went to the theater to rehearse until 11 pm every day for over a month. I can't just join the company again, because they have a performance coming up that they have been working on for 1.5 months now, so I missed all of the rehearsals. I don't mind though, as I'd like to work on technique for now, and the company is more expression and artistry oriented. I will try to spread out my ballet classes as much as possible. Is it bad at all to take that second class occasionally? I'm asking because I sometimes have 3 hours between classes, and I thought I might just as well fill that with another ballet class. vrsfanatic
It is not bad to take the second class occassionaly, but be careful about overworking. Remember to drink a lot of water and eat a banana or two on those days. Link to comment
