You Know You've Been Out Too Long When

Recommended Posts

It's definitely time to go back to ballet class when you fall down the stairs (a looong way down) two times in two days. :)

(But suffered only minor banging thanks to the carpet)

Good Grief!! I hate stairs for that very reason..please don't go and visit San Francisco in the near future until you've been back to lots of ballet classes...way too many stairs in that city :)

Its definitiely time to go back to ballet class when you find that your jeans are too tight.... :D

Time to go back to ballet class when your body is tied up in so many knots from being hunched over a computer that you can barely move! Being 'apres-ballet' sore is soooo much better than being 'diligent-student' sore!

And its time for more classes when you just saw a fantastic performance at the theatre. I think this is a real motivation kick :)

Oh man, I hear you kristienne. I am waiting to defend the prospectus for my dissertation and (since I'm reasonably sure it'll be passed) I should be working like mad these last few days of vacation ... but I think that the return of terminal klutziness takes precedent--2 classes a day until recognizably human!

I cannot believe more people didn't respond to this post... as so many people say they are making their 'returns' to ballet!

Anyways... I'll give you my "you know you've been out to long..."

**When your legs are like complete JELLO at the end of the class and you try not to show that reeeeallly deep plie was just your legs giving out!**

heheh :)

You know you've been out of ballet (especially pointe class) class too long when you can say, "Wow, my feet look really good in sandals."

Agreed on the above points. To add my two cents, you know you need to return to ballet when you come home Fridays and wish to collapse at the door! To stimulate my tired body, I have decided to attend adult open intermediate ballet class at the Atlanta Ballet Centre for Dance Education. I start tonight and cannot wait for it!

:yucky:

You know what's funny, I am a very outgoing and talkative person by nature, but shut like a clam yesterday when I realized I was standing in the same room as one of my favorite ballerinas of the Atlanta Ballet. I literally felt myself looking down at my shoes and averting her eyes. What a strange experience that was!

I am quoting/adding to inform how it went. Although I danced for 8 years, I will need to go back to Beginner's lane. The women in my class were actually part of an Int. Pointe class, which was afterwards. I did not realize their skill level until halfway through class, at which point I did. I did not feel in control at all, or even the least bit confident. First class in seventeen years and I go to the Int., who am I, Allegra Kent?

Clearly, I will be back in Beginner's next week. I hope it goes better.

when your 'turn out' muscles in your hips hurt after class!

aleemor, I'm sure your return to ballet will progress faster than you think!

What do you do when you've been working very hard for so many hours a day that your brains are starting to bubble out your ears AND everything the Guy says/does/thinks/doesn't do is starting to drive you crazy?

Um. Look at your dance journal, realize you havne't been to class since Wednesday and get yourself into tights tout suite.

But you REALLY know when you've been out too long when you suddenly recall that the teacher was once your student!
