About Flexibility Turned in/turned out

When I do the splits, I seem to have more flexibility when doing 'gymnast' type splits - parallel. In fact, I seem to have quite a bit more, and can stretch my quadriceps and generally feel more stretched out that way, while with turned out splits, I can't feel nearly the same.

Is something anatomical causing the difference in stretch (i.e., is that the same for everyone) or is there just something odd going on? It just seems like it ought to make more sense for turned out splits to stretch further, rather than the reverse.

Whatever works for you, Marenetha. Personally, I don't find any beneficial stretch in a turned in split, as that is not a position we use.
