Hurt Foot and Audition Tomorrow...

Today, I was walking kind of fast, and my foot twisted to the side and i heard a loud crack and then I couldn't walk on it (and still can't...it's about 3 hours later). It's not swollen or bruised, but it hurts ALOT if I sickle my foot in, and if I even attempt to stand on it. I've been icing it on and off since it happened, and I know that I should see a doctor if it still hurts tomorrow. But, I have an audition tomorrow I reeeally want to go to, and I was wondering if anybody had any ideas about what the problem could be and if it might be better tomorrow? I don't think I sprained my ankle, because it is the inside of my foot (next to that bone) that hurts...

dancer522, I know you don't want to hear this, but if you cannot walk on it, there is no way you are going to dance on it. It sounds like a classic sprain, but you never know without a doctor and probably an X-ray. It could even be a break. Get yourself to a doctor ASAP, and forget about dancing tomorrow. It's not going to happen. :)

Thanks for the reply. When my mom got home, she said it was probably sprained, too. If I can't walk on it tomorrow, then obviously there's no way I can dance on it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed (because twice this year I hurt a different part of the same foot, couldn't walk at all on it, and then the next day it was surprisingly fine!) If I can't dance tomorrow, then I'm going to ask my teachers if there's any way they can just reccomend me, (it's for the same school) but I'm not sure if that's possible, because this is the last audition for the whole country. :) Oh well, at least I already know I definately got into another place, but I don't really want to go there...

Just to let you know - This morning, my foot still hurt, but could walk on it. I stayed off of it until the audition and iced it, then took advil and it only hurt a little in the audition - and I actually thought I did really well.

Talk about bad luck-Getting hurt the day before the audition! Well I'm glad you made it through the audition. The same thing happened to me, i was doing balances (sorry I don' know how to do the accent) and I rolled right over my ankel and heard a crack. Well my ankle was broken- it was the day after the recital! I lucked out on that one but unfortunately I couldn't dance much that summer. You're really lucky that you could dance on your injured foot!

cheeriodancer - That's good it was the day after, and not before! Actually today my foot does hurt more than yesterday (but I didn't take advil today), but I can walk on it, and it's not really bad. I guess I was just lucky all these times I kept hurting my foot!

I kinda thought so. Rest it today and try to keep it elevated. An occasional icebag wouldn't hurt, either. Put a movie on video and watch as you lie on the couch; resist the urge to order your mother to peel you a grape.

Seriously, though, you've dodged a serious injury, but it sounds as though there may be some superficial damage. If things aren't back to non-hurting by Tuesday, head for the doc!
