elise
Saw a chiropractor for the first time yesterday. Living through the pain just isn't happening any more. On top of that I've given up the painful search for pointe shoes and I've gone over to the evil side and purchased a pair of Gaynor Minden's. Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
You know that you're "getting older" when you have to put on your glasses first in order to find your teeth. Quote Link to comment
Guest Lori64
You know that you're "getting older" when you have to put on your glasses first in order to find your teeth. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hysterically funny!!! But - I see that you are 26!!! Is that old???????? Give it another 10 or 20 years and if you are still dancing then, you will know what being an OLD dancer really feels like!! When it hurts to move and to dance, but it hurts even more not to! I was involved in a fairly serious car accident recently and thanks to modern vehicle construction, walked away from it unscathed. The policeman at the scene said that I really ought to vivit a doctor should I start to feel any aches and pains! I checked and thought - "well which ache and which pain is new"!!! My back permanently aches, my knees hurt all the time, my hip joints hurt..............oh the things we do to ourselves! A lifetime of abusing one's body really doesn't help! Quote Link to comment
elise
Actually I am 28 in 4 days. Which feels old in respect how I felt when I was 11 and could clomp around on my pointes for days on end! Quote Link to comment
spankster
I knew I was getting older when I started to dress exclusively for warmth/comfort instead of fashion. The dog gets walked at 6 am every day. This is less than fun on wintry mornings. I wear three to four pairs of sweats and the same on top, the whole thing topped off with a coat and hat, scarf, glove combo. I must look like the Michelin man but would rather be warm. This doesn't even begin to address the color and print combos that are involved. Contrast this to the teen days, when one must be cute at any cost Quote Link to comment
onyx
When yu get on an elevator or go to the supermarket and the background music is the stuff that made you rock as a teenager. Quote Link to comment
koshka
--When the teens where you dance are wearing the same styles you remember from your youth. (remember the 70s???) --When you lean down to unlock your bike and pull a muscle. Quote Link to comment
onyx
and when people start calling you Ma'am instead of Miss. I really hate that!!! Quote Link to comment
koshka
That might just mean you've moved to the South. Quote Link to comment
lampwick
koshka--the fashion thing is so true. My 18 year old friend was going on about the "new" sneakers everyone's wearing..ROOS..those things with a velcro pocket on the side. That was the trend when I was in elementary school. And "nostalgia" nights at clubs...where they play Depeche Mode, The Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen. OH my god, that's the music I STILL listen to. It's "nostalgia" now? Oh no... *edited to add--The new Cure album is one of the hardest, freshest sounding albums that came out last year. Nothing cheesy 80s about the sound on that. Robert Smith's 45 and still comes up with fresh stuff. Plus he's got the $$$$$ and resources to do a giant festival tour succesfully when everything else got cancelled last summer. He deserves a Grammy. Only been nominated ONCE! Quote Link to comment
lampwick
I just read this Ballet to Cure music Peter Schaufuss made this ballet about Princess Diana's life. It sounds terrible, but I'd love to see it. Quote Link to comment

lampwick
"Oh elise it doesn't matter what you say..." He loves ME! Ballet dancers seem to like him for some reason. Wonder what it is? The mad moves in the "Why Can't I be You?" video? Nothing like a drunk chubby English man in full out stage makeup, a bear suit, and high tops. He somehow manages to be sexy... Quote Link to comment
