Reading a reply by "Shulie" to another topic, I came across a great quote I hadn't heard before:

Plie is the first thing you learn and the last thing you master. -- Suzanna Farrell

I love collecting quotes like that. How about posting some of your favorites?

I'm glad someone noticed my quote!

Here are some that are not necessarily dance, but can be related.

On Adult Ballet:

"Get over the idea that only children should spend their time in study. Be a student so long as you still have something to learn, and this will mean all your life."

--Henry Doherty (1870 - 1939)

Here's a dance one:

"Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who could not hear the music."

--Angela Monet

For the dance parents:

"I have found the best way to give advice to your children is to find out what they want and then advise them to do it."

--Harry S. Truman

and another dance one:

"You must understand the whole of life, not just one little part of it. That is why you must read, that is why you must look at the skies, that is why you must sing, and dance, and write poems, and suffer, and understand, for all that is life."

--Krishnamurti

My favorite quote is still "In life as a dance, grace glides on blistered feet." I am not sure who said it, but it's such a profound statement (and makes me feel better about having blistered feet :-) )
