Aurora916
I have a short muscular legs but am always looking for exercises to lengthen them. I am starting to understand the term "pull up" out of your hips, but I think it is easier to think about "pushing down" through your legs and feet to give you a longer line. Does anyone have any ideas, exercises, or tips on how to help lengthen legs??? Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted February 25, 2005 Administrators Report Share Posted February 25, 2005 The length of your legs is a structural thing, Aurora, and you can't change that. You can lengthen the muscles by working correctly in ballet, as ballet itself is designed to do that. However, you have to be working in the right way. If you sit in your heels, with your weight back, that pushes you down into your legs. When something is compressed, what does it do? Yep, you got it. Take something long and compress it and it gets wider. Stretching and really working with your best alignment and weight placement is the best thing you can do, perhaps along with some Pilates Reformer work. That too is geared to lengthen muscles rather than bulk them up. Quote Link to comment
