Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post here because I'm still in the 17-22 age category, but I'll give it a try :) I'm currently taking a Ballet 1 class through my university and I'm wondering if it's appropriate to ask my teacher if I can take the barre portion of the class on pointe? I haven't been able to do any pointe work since I've been taking ballet classes through my university and I miss it so much! I'm just not sure if it's appropriate for me to ask because it is a beginning level class. ( I enrolled in this level because the more advanced classes did not fit in my schedule) Thanks for any advice you guys have!

Of course it doesn't hurt to ask. I am still taking a couple of beginner classes and there are one or two girls who take it on pointe. Of course they take more advanced courses as well. Sometimes it is a schedule issue, or people want to take the beginner class due to recovering from injury or a long absense. Some are beginning pointe students and it gives them a chance to take a slower class but on pointe. However, I take adult open classes which tend to be a little less strict than regular program classes. But I don't see why it would be a problem if you are experienced enough on pointe and the fact that you are on pointe wouldn't disrupt the progress of the class.
