Pointe at home

Recommended Posts

I haven't taken pointe in quite a while for several reasons. A friend of mine who's a choreographer told me I should consider doing pointe again, as it might come in handy. Would it be fine to start practicing pointe again at home? I have taken several years of pointe classes, and I take enough technique classes. I would only be doing little things like relevés, bourrées and retirés, just to gain some strenghth and technique. I'll probably start taking pointe classes again next school year, if I can combine it with my other dance classes, voice lessons, acting classes and the plays I'll be in.

It should be all right, if you've kept your technique up, but of course it would be best if you could work with supervision, in order to avoid practicing technical errors that you may not be able to see or feel.
