Guest BroadwayDiva8 Posted September 3, 2005 Report Share Posted September 3, 2005 i saw an ad in Backstage for a Steps Repertory Ensemble Audition coming up. i was thinking about auditioning, but don't really know what this "resident scholarship dance company" is. i would like to hear any kind of information anybody knows about this like is this a paying company, the types of dance performed, and if housing is provided. any help would be appreciated! thanks! lampwick Posted September 7, 2005 Report Share Posted September 7, 2005 I saw them perform at the last faculty showcase. They were really good, advanced dancers. The style was, I guess I'd call it "jazzy modern/contemporary?" The choreography was very cool. If that makes it clear at all... I think the "focus" changes slightly depending on who's choreographing, but it seems like they pick people who are good at Jazz and Modern. I don't think it's a paid "company". You get free or reduced classes without having to do work-study hours (cleaning urinals, etc....). It's a good deal if you want to further your training and make some contacts, etc...
