primasylph
I am curious as to the dancer's opinion of the Playstation game Dance Dance Revolution. I personally love it cause after descovering running isn't good for ballet dancers I've been looking for other means of cardiovascular exersice and it definatly makes me break a sweat! I just now got the newest version (DDR Extreeme 2) for my birthday and play it every chance I can get! The only thing for me is to step on the dance pad with my whole foot and not just the ###### of my feet which I find after playing for a few hours can really tighten up my achillies. Of course now I make sure to stretch that good. So how 'bout everyone else? Who else on Ballet Talk is a DDR freak? Quote Link to comment
TemptressToo
Not I. I do ballroom and salsa as my non-ballet fitness outlets. Teaches me to move to so many different rhythms. Quote Link to comment
PolkaDot
I love DDR! And DDR Extreme 2 is great. But it does involve a lot of jumping around (for me, anyway), and stomping, which can be tiring for the feet after awhile. I find that my ankles can get a little sore. But hey, anything that gets you moving...! Quote Link to comment
clown58
haha--i'm only played a few times at friend's places, but i love DDR! Quote Link to comment

Stomping prevents you from moving your feet quickly between the arrow buttons and results in waring out the dance pad faster if your'e playing at home Edited October 25, 2005 by primasylph Quote Link to comment
Skittl1321
I've only played a few times but I love the home pad games. (I would never play at an arcade or other public DDR.) I have seen people play who do small weight transfers (almost as if they were walking), who stomp on each arrow, and others who jump on two feet continually and just rotate to get to the right arrow. So there are lots of ways to do it. Me I'm a constant hopper, so I get a good aerobic workout. It's fun, but I don't own it, and living on the 3rd floor of an apartment building, my neighbors probably appreciate it. (I have seen some people who actually 'dance' the game really well, but for me, there is no dance involved, it's more like playing that memory game simon, to see if I touch the right button) Quote Link to comment

primasylph
Well I'm not terribly advanced, so I do end up stomping occasionally instead of hopping gracefully Nither am I; I play mostly on light mode and am working towards standard. I'm just passing along what more advanced players have told me. And trust me, there's nothing graceful about it, mabey if your'e a freestyler but I'm nowhere near that! Quote Link to comment
