DewDrop5392
I can do splits on both sides and I think full grande jetes on both sides too, but I just can't get a 180 penche, I have good arabesque too. Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted November 10, 2005 Administrators Report Share Posted November 10, 2005 You don't need a 180º penché. That would be acrobatic, and not a correct ballet line. Quote Link to comment
DewDrop5392
Oh, okay, thanks. Quote Link to comment
toedancer
I think I may be confused. Is a 180 degree penche the same as a 6 o'clock penche? Quote Link to comment
Hans
Yes, it is. Quote Link to comment
eryn
hey, you know for a penchee, my working leg sometimes slants to the supporting side. is there any way to correct that? i can get my splits square and i have an average to good arabesque. (just f.y.i.) Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Slants TOWARD the supporting side? That's not common, but it's seen, sometimes, when the student tries too hard to get the leg straight in back, and crosses over the midline. Don't let it do that. You are in charge of your body. You tell it what to do, and don't take "no" for an answer. Learn where straight back is, and how it feels, and how to get there. You may need some prompting from your teacher, so mention it before class sometime. Quote Link to comment
