dance7rlm
when i stretch i hear/feel some grinding in my hips, is this normal? also, we do this exercise where you sit on the floor and point your foot to the 3-quarter, repeat that a few times then you go from 3-quarter pointed to pointing just the toes...when i do the second part i can feel my ankles grinding a lot. is this normal? Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted November 19, 2005 Administrators Report Share Posted November 19, 2005 No, the grinding is not "normal". I'm having trouble understanding the ankle grinding in pointing the toes from an already stretched arch, though. Once you have the foot 3/4 pointed, and then just do the toes, there is no further movement in the ankle joint. And which stretches are causing the hip grinding? Are you warmed up when doing them? dance7rlm
it's just the top of the ankle...i feel grinding and i hear cracking and stuff when i point all the way in the exercise. the grinding in the hips actually hasn't happened in a while, but every now and then it does. usually when i do a grand plie and flip so that my hands are on the ground and back is straight, or in developees a la seconde. Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted November 19, 2005 Administrators Report Share Posted November 19, 2005 Grand plié and flip??? Sorry, you lost me on that one. As to the développé à la seconde, that could happen if you put the leg too far side, or if you are sitting even a tiny bit in the standing leg, or both of the above. Link to comment
dance7rlm
the grand plie and flip is just something we do in modern, its kind of more of a pop when i do that and it only happens when i am turned out. its just a bend at the waist to touch your toes, my teacher always says to flip. thanks for the help about the developpe though! i will try to keep an eye on that going in the right place.
