Guest tutuchick1117
I have a long toriso and long legs. My dance teacher says that i do have a ballet body. But every thing i have heard here is a short toriso and long legs. I don't have any extra weight, and everything is well porpotioned. Can i still be a dancer if i have a long toriso and long legs?? Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted November 23, 2005 Administrators Report Share Posted November 23, 2005 Just sounds to me like you are evenly balanced, which is not a problem. The problem is when the torso is long and the legs are short, in terms of proportion. Quote Link to comment

Guest pink tutu379
Okay good, i was worried i would have trouble finding a guy tall enough, but i guess the guys keep on getting taller and taller! Quote Link to comment
Guest ballet_sugar_pointe
What is so bad about long torso and short legs? There are a few girls at my dance school and they dance beautifully and look really elegant. xx Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted November 24, 2005 Administrators Report Share Posted November 24, 2005 Nothing is wrong with it, except that it is very hard to create the line that is expected in classical ballet today. Someone with short legs and long torso can certainly dance, but it will just be very difficult for them to achieve a professional career in the classical field. Directors will look for a more balanced line, or the longer leg line. But, if someone is really exceptionally good, they might still have a chance. Quote Link to comment
dancergirl39
And when will we be able to tell our "body type". Is it apparent all along, are is it not certain until after puberty? Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted November 26, 2005 Administrators Report Share Posted November 26, 2005 Well, we usually have a fairly good idea of where it is going, but, there are often surprises. Quote Link to comment
