Guest lovinballet14
When I do my extensions to the front or side there is a pain in my hip flexor. What is this from??? Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Sounds like overwork of the hip flexors. Are you supporting your extensions from underneath? Are you sure? Quote Link to comment
Guest lovinballet14
I am trying really hard to use my hamstrings. But it seems like I cant use them without my hip floxors!!! Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Oh, you can't do extensions without them, but they have to be supported by deeper muscles and other structures. It's a tough thing to learn, but millions before have done it! Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
To define the muscles involved, we're talking here about the muscles which lift the thigh toward the torso. These are the Iliacus, the Psoas Major, and the Rectus Abdominis. This last is also a Quadricep but also acts as a hip flexor as well as a knee extensor, especially when the legs are well-rotated from the hip. Quote Link to comment
