Guest kristindancer27
Hi, I registered at a new ballet studio and I've been going to their classes. Next semester I'm going to be in this intermediate foundation class where we are introduced to pointe. (The teacher has ok'ed this.) This will be my first time on pointe, and I am wondering which brand of pointe shoes you guys think are the best, for beginners or just in general. I have Capezio slippers and Bloch Serenade soft-pointes. Thanks! Kristin Edited December 6, 2005 by kristindancer27 Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted December 6, 2005 Administrators Report Share Posted December 6, 2005 Kristin, it's really a matter of what shoe fits your foot the best, and there are sooooo many brands and models within the brands these days that it is impossible to know anymore. Your teacher might have some ideas of shoes she prefers, and then you have to go to a fitter and try on everything that they have. Each of the different models of Capezios, Blochs, Grishko, etc., are designed for different types of feet and strength. Sorry I can't be more help, but there are too many shoes out there now! primasylph
The best thing you can do is ask your instructor's opinion and if possible have her come with you to your pointe shoe fitting so that'll ensure you get the right shoe for your foot and also a kind of shoe your instructor approves of without having to deal with returns. balletmom311
Kristendancer27 can you get into Toronto? If possible I would like to suggest that you contact The Shoe Room at the National Ballet School to make an appointment for your first fitting. They fit new pointe students all the time and are excellent. They will spend a lot of time with you to get the best possible fit. It is almost like having your first pointe class right at the store. Good luck! Link to comment
