Guest arabesque07
I am looking for some help. I have EXTREMELY weak ankles, making pointe work INCREDIBLY difficult. It has gotten to the point now that just after working for 5-10 minutes, my ankles hurt really badly. I have sprained/twisted my left ankle who knows how many times, and my right is just weak. Sometimes even just walking on it, I will feel a sudden sharp pain, as if I had twisted it. It doesn't help that because my ankles have been so weak in the past, pointework has become scary to me, so when I am about to attempt something, such as a pirouette, I no longer even have the confidence to think that I might be able to do it well. So, I need some exercises or something to make them stronger. I have tried therabands and rolling my ankles in circles as well as doing the alphabet with them, but nothing seems to work. They may have gotten a tiny bit stronger, but nothing that is noticeable on pointe. Any suggestions? Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted January 13, 2006 Administrators Report Share Posted January 13, 2006 I think it might be a good idea to get to a Physical Therapist and get some very specific exercises to do. Also, you need to work on elevés and relevés a LOT. Link to comment
