missy12784
I've realized that in order to get a high arabesque and to help get a split leap(to get my back leg up) I need to gain flexability in my lower back. Does anyone know of any exercises to increase the flexability in my lower back????? Link to comment
Mel Johnson
I'm curious; what makes you think that this is a back flexibility issue and not strength? Link to comment
missy12784
Well it's flexability and strength but I guess I should ask, how can I get my back leg higher in my arabesue and getting the back leg up in a leap? Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted January 15, 2006 Administrators Report Share Posted January 15, 2006 Are you moving your body weight forward and upward, more over the front leg? And in the grand jeté be sure that you go forward in the air so that the back leg can get up. If you battement the front leg too high it can stop the forward movement and prevent the back leg from going up. Link to comment
missy12784
Maybe I'm leaning back too much, thus preventing my back leg to go up. Next time I'm at the studio I'll try my grand jete the way you sugg. it. Lean forward. Link to comment
Mel Johnson
And make sure there's plenty of forward OOMPH to help carry that leg up in the prescribed arc. I don't know if that's more what Ms. Leigh meant about "forward". Not so much "lean", but "GO!" Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted January 16, 2006 Administrators Report Share Posted January 16, 2006 No, I definitely did not mean "lean"! It's MOVE, not lean. You don't lean anywhere! Link to comment
