missy12784
Before the studio took it's winter break for two weeks, I was assigned to three classes(pre-professtional) Mon. and Wed. 6:15-8:30 and Sat. 10:00-11:30. And I would sometimes take beg. and inter. adult classes two hours a week. Now that the break is over, my teacher changed the schedule for all preprofesstional students to Wed. 6:00-8:00 and Sat. 10:00-12:00. 4 hours a week!!!!!! I hear about other ballet dancers who dance 5 or 6 days a week. I am preparing to start auditioning for ballet companies. Will the 4 hours slow down my progression towards my dreams?????? Mel Johnson
At this stage of the game, you should be taking six days a week. Preferably one ballet technique class, then a specialty, as in three pointe classes a week, a modern dance class, perhaps jazz, and a Pilates or other supplementary exercise. At your present rate, you are far behind the curve. Four hours per week isn't even enough to maintain technique necessary for pointe. Link to comment
missy12784
Great! I knew I was behinde and at 21 I need to get out there in the dance world and start auditioning. And since my teacher doesn't offer anything but just ballet classes, not even pointe classes for goodness sakes, I guess I'll start taking adult beg. and inter. classes and work on pointe then. Thanks anyway. Link to comment
