kellylynn
I just saw it this past weekend. It was wonderful. It was also really interesting to see how ballet was passed down to present day. I was awed to learn that some of my former teachers were connected to all that history. It made me feel like part of it all. We can trace the steps we learned to those very people on the screen. One of the dancers (franklin somebody) actually came to speak but I wasn't able to stay. Have any of you seen this yet? What did you think? Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted March 6, 2006 Administrators Report Share Posted March 6, 2006 Freddy Franklin, who is one of the all time treasured dancers and GREAT people in the ballet world! I think that everyone of us fortunate enough to have worked with him truly adored him. He is very special indeed! Quote Link to comment
kellylynn
Yes! That's who it was. Forgive me on not remembering his name. Quote Link to comment
TemptressToo
I haven't gotten to see it yet, although there was a big to-do with the company this weekend performing some old Ballet Russe favorites. Then there was a reception with our own Dorothy Lister and a screening of the film. I hope to see it soon though. Quote Link to comment
intermezzo
Ooo.. it's playing next week at the university-- I will definitely try to see it. And somewhat related, last Friday, my dance studio hosted a book signing by Miss Joy Camden, who once performed with the Ballet Russes (at age 12!) Quote Link to comment
