TomarkenFan89
ADMIN: Please move to one of the technique forums - either YD or Adult Ballet Students. I can't tell how old the poster is. Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
I'll do it, but only after I can figure out which YD or Adult forum to put it on. Anyway, the answer to the question is, tendus, lots of tendus, plenty of tendus, battement degagé, battement frappés, pas de cheval, relevés, and of course the elevés themselves. Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted March 10, 2006 Administrators Report Share Posted March 10, 2006 I just moved this to YD 13-16, on a strong impression that this is where it belongs. If not, let me know and I will move it again. Quote Link to comment
Guest star_reacher
A few good excercises to strengthen the muscles in your feet are: --Take a theraband (if you have one) and just wrap it around the toes and bend your toes backwards and forwards. --Put marbles in one plate and one plate beside that and pick the marbles up with your toes and move it to the next plate beside that plate. (After a while you can time yourself to see how fast you can do it.) Hope this helps!! Quote Link to comment

Mel Johnson
On second thought, DON'T do that. It builds the muscles that make feet clench, so not good. Quote Link to comment
tillie
oh ok never mind. tee hee. Quote Link to comment
sballetgrl
Theraband!!! I used them in physical therapy and thay worked wonders for me. Quote Link to comment
tillie
One thing that I do (I used to have weak ankles) is do ten relevés in each of the five positions (switching your ront foot with fifth and fourth) twice a day. it hurts your ankles at first, but it really helped me. Hope that helped a bit. Quote Link to comment
Belle of the ballet #1
What are some good excersises for your feet to make it easier to releve en pointe without a plie to prepare you? -Jenna just a question, maybe we have slightly different meanings for words in aus (i know some definitions differ between the varying syllabus) but if there is no plie, then technically aren't we talking about a rise and not a releve? i'm just getting confused. i agree that to strengthen your feet a thereband is definitely the best thing cos you're working the muscles without killing the feet in your pointe shoes (you can save the blisters for class!!!) luv belle Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Because of the differences in terminology among many methods used in the US, I generally prefer to use the older term "elevé" for what RAD calls "rise" Quote Link to comment
PinkSpaghettiShoes
What is an eleve? (I am unsure as your reply Mr. Johnson refers to RAD and I do ISTD) Is it just simply a rise from straight legs? Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
That's right. Quote Link to comment
L' Allegro
My dance teacher told me to do 16 eleves in first, 8 counts up and 8counts down, the same thing in second, eight on the right leg with the left leg in passe (retire) and vice versa. It has made me MUCH MUCH stronger! Quote Link to comment
