SingerWhoMoves
Hi everyone, I've been missing this board- but I haven't been in a class since coming on tour. :-( I feel so out of shape- Our show shedule is strange- we have early curtains so most adult classes are right at the the time I need to start getting ready. Anyway, our current and next few stops are Tucson, AZ, Costa Mesa, CA and Wilmington, DE. Any recs? Still trying to get to class!!! Quote Link to comment
popballet
I can't remember, did you ever share the name of the show you are in? We are HUGE broadway fans and try to see the shows that come through our area. Will your tour be coming to the Nashville/Indy/Cincy area? Hope you are enjoying every minute! Quote Link to comment

Hi there- It's Dr Dolittle, starring the very tall mister Tommy Tune. For now we are not scheduled to be in that area- we were in Chatanooga TN for our tech rehearsals/first previews. Dr Dolitlte If you look at the production photos, I'm in a big Yellow dress on the R of the picture. Our tour schedule is also on there. Thanks for the good wishes!! Quote Link to comment
calamitous
Hey singerthatmoves - would you be willing to share how you got to where you are now with my DD. She is currently in a pre-pro school for ballet and chugging along, but her real career goal is music theatre. Currently for her dance is where most of her emphasis is, but it is really an means to an end. Sp would consider being a mentor? Even from a distance. Quote Link to comment
popballet
Singer Who Moves, I LOVE Tommy Tune! How exciting to be in a real broadway tour with living legend no less! Congratulations. I'm sure it is the result of years of hard work for you. My dd would also love to hear the story of how you reached this point in your career. Was dance your main focus as you grew up, or did you divide it evenly between voice, dance and acting? I'm sure you're very busy, but when you get a spare moment, post what you can. Thanks Quote Link to comment
b1
Cecily's Dance Tech in Tuscon is a wonderful ballet school run by a former Boston Ballet ballerina Cecily Winslow. She has a huge adult following and the adult class times vary. There are classes in the morning and in the evening. Rochelle Zide-Booth, former member of the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo also teaches there. I do not have the exact address, but you can visit the website at www.cecilysdancetech.com b1 Quote Link to comment
SingerWhoMoves
B1, thanks so much for the rec. Unfortunately forces have once again conspired to keep me from class (understudy reh. ) Calamatous and Popballet, I'd be happy to share any info I can... it's a tough buisness and no one takes the same path. I would definitely say get the best training you can and work really hard. (very cliche, but true). So much is also based on things like how tall you are and your hair color etc.. for a particular job so you have to be very resillient and very determined. I also encourage as many outside interests as possible so that that autidions and shows are not your life. In addition to adding to your acting bag of tricks- life experience is so valuable. Friends outside of the business and interest in other things are a saving grace, and also make transitioning out of a pro career much easier. feel free to PM me and I'll answer any questions I can!
