My teacher told me during pointe that I had soft spots in the toes of my shoes ,and that it was about time i got some new ones. Considering I've danced in the same pair (my first pair) of shoes for 2 1/2 years i would agree. Problem is , I don't know what kind would be the best for me. Plus I also have the problem of pronating, so I need extra support for my ankles what do I do?

Hi,i would say that you need a strong shank to keep you up,i would not reccommend GMs because my friend sprained her ankle while doing pointe in Gaynors; you need to have strong ankles to dance in GMs.Hope my suggestion helps!

If you need some pointe shoe suggestions and have already been fitted before you can fill out Ms. Devors pointe shoe suggestion form in the pointe shoes board. I havent actually filled one out, but she is very helpful!

Oh, and sorry for posting. i know moderators should post first. :sweating:

2 1/2 years for one pair?! WOW! If my pointe shoes lasted that long my mom would be kissing my feet! :innocent: ...well, I'm not gonna give any suggestions, because- correct me if I'm wrong -someone would actually have to see your feet to determine what kind you should get next. Do you have any dance retailors around that fit pointe shoes and know what their doing? If so, I would recomend going to them. Finding the right pointe shoes can take some time, so don't be upset if the first pair doesn't work our pefectly. I had to go through 4 pairs before I found the pair I liked! Just make sure you go to someone experienced, and show your teacher before you sew them!

To moderators: I know I'm not supposed to give advice before you, so please feel free to delete. Sorry if I caused any trouble!

no mods have said anything yet, so there shouldn't really be any advice posted yet, also without seeing your feet and knowing many more things, no advice can really be given.

i suggest you try filling out one of ms devors pointe shoe suggestion forms, the link for this is at the top of pointe shoe topics forum.

otherwise, go to your nearest store and try on the shoes they have to offer, you can never be sure until they're on your feet!

luv belle

p.s. i'm no expert, but 2 1/2 years in the same pair of shoes is probably far too long.

Yup you were. Thanks for all the advice. I finally got some pointe shoes yesterday, I'm in love with them. They are Grishko's SS 5xxxx. I got them checked out and they work perfectly.
