Guest MissBallet
Hey everyone! I have a fairly good pointe without my ballet shoes on, but when I put my shoes on it looks horrible! Is this typical? -Dani Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted March 19, 2006 Administrators Report Share Posted March 19, 2006 No. Make sure your shoes fit properly. Quote Link to comment
Guest MissBallet
So, are you saying they might be to big? I was wondering that. Maybe they are 'baggy'? I am getting new ones soon Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted March 19, 2006 Administrators Report Share Posted March 19, 2006 Yes, most likely too big, or too stretched out. Try canvas split sole next time, if you are not wearing those already. Quote Link to comment
Guest MissBallet
I am I am wearing Sanshas. Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted March 19, 2006 Administrators Report Share Posted March 19, 2006 Try a different brand. I'm not fond of Sansha's, as I don't think they fit very well. Quote Link to comment
Guest MissBallet
Any suggestions? I hear that the chacotts (which are new here) are pretty nice... Quote Link to comment
MeAgain
Capezio Juliets are very form-fitting--and, in my opinion, the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. Quote Link to comment
Guest MissBallet
Really? I'll ask my dancewear store about them Quote Link to comment
Skye90
Ms. Leigh, are you pro split sole shoes then? Because in my school we have it indoctrinated into us that we may not were split soles because they don't provide the amount of support needed. Of course I've always aspired to split soles because they enhance your feet (and possibly because they're out lawed? Tends to work like that ). Just wondering what you thought - I trust your judgement on so many things, and it's often very similar to my teachers. So I was interested to know what you thought about that. Quote Link to comment
Belle of the ballet #1
at my school its the same, for the same reason split soles are a no-no. i have always wanted to wear them, cos i don't have the best pointe to start wiht. at least now i know i'm not the only one out there! it's annoying though, because, while leather full soles are compulsory for most of us, there are girls in the highest senior class (which i became a part of this year, but they were already in there)that get away with the canvas split soles i know i could probably get away with it as i am now in that class, but i'm too scared to try. i think i'm going to start wearing my demi's for all my classes now though, (as a teacher would you recommend this? it seems logical to me as they are required for exams, but nobody seems to wear them until a few weeks before an exam) i wore them for a few weeks recently just because i felt like it and i have really noticed my feet strengthen, so although my feet look even worse in these i think i'll stick with them. luv belle Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted March 19, 2006 Administrators Report Share Posted March 19, 2006 This has to be up to the teacher. I prefer split soles, and don't really feel that there is enough, if any, difference in support to matter. Quote Link to comment
love_ballet
**knock knock** Ms. Leigh, is there any value to the argument that full sole shoes make the dancer work harder to achieve the pointed foot thus strengthening the feet more? That is the argument at dd's school for requiring the lower levels to wear full sole shoes. Quote Link to comment
dancergirl39
Also, does anyone know of the best flat shoes to wear for narrow feet? Quote Link to comment
DewDrop5392
I have pretty narrow feet; I like wearing Capezio juliet leather, and grishko canvas performance in a B. The grishko canvas come in an A too, so they are good for very narrow feet. They also have a little piece of elastic in between the soles, to enhance the arch. Quote Link to comment
