Working the back of the thigh

Recommended Posts

I was trying to do some stretching at home and I found an area that needs quite a bit of stretching out. One stretch that I did was I layed on the floor with one leg straight to the floor and brought the other leg as far as I could to my face. In other words, a develope ot the side. But under my thigh, it was really tight so that I could not straighten my leg fully. How can I stretch out the back of my thigh? Or is that hamstrings?

Hamstrings are the muscles in the back of the thigh. If they are tight, stretching them with sitting on the floor, legs straight out in front of you, and bending forward is good. And of course forward stretches standing up, like cambré forward. :) Hamstrings need to be stretched gently, but consistently. Never force them. And warm up first!
