Dance/USA's estimate for the total number of dancers in companies in the United States with budgets of over $1 Million = 2,130 Companies with budgets over $6 million (15 Companies) = 645 dancers Ballet companies with budgets between $1 million and $5.99 million (48 companies) (Extrapolated number is based on the average of nine companies surveyed by Dance/USA) = Extrapolated estimate: 1,215 dancers Modern/Contemporary companies with budgets between $1 million and $5.99 million (18 companies) (Extrapolated number based on eight companies surveyed by Dance/USA) = Extrapolated estimate: 270 dancers These figures do not include the following: Part time dancers hired solely for specific pieces "Second" or "apprentice" or "studio" companies.
