Adult Pointe

I think another thing that should be considered in this subject along with physical readyness and instructor supervision is finding the right pointe shoe for your foot which is something that should also definatly be done with guidance of your instructor. There are literaly hundreds of types of pointes and wearing the wrong shoe can also cause injury because many dancewear shops are inclined to sell you the first pair you try on. Even if you danced en pointe when you were younger that dosen't mean that the shoe you wore when you were a teen will be suitable for you as an adult as over the years you foot can change. For example my ballet teacher tells us that after she had her son her feet grew wider and had to change the brand of pointes she wore.
