SugarPlumFairy1
I hear your not suppose to wear underwear (panties) under your leotard and I feel uncomfortable not wearing them, would it be ok if I wore the bakini cut skin-colored ones. Plus when its that time of the month you have to wear something under your leotard. Edited July 24, 2006 by SugarPlumFairy1 Quote Link to comment

SugarPlumFairy1
i found the topic about it but, it did't really answer my question. Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted July 24, 2006 Administrators Report Share Posted July 24, 2006 Dancers do not wear underwear under tights and leotards. It is not done. If you feel uncomfortable one or two days a month, ask your teacher if you can wear a little ballet skirt that day, or black tights. Tights ARE underwear. Anything else under there is not necessary and not a good idea. Quote Link to comment
SugarPlumFairy1
Thank You Miss Leigh, another question, would I put a pantie-liner or something in my tights, because im not quite ready to wear tampons yet. Quote Link to comment
ondine88
Hi Sweetie, What many girls do if they are not ready for tampons yet, is purchase some nude color underwear that comes up to the waist but has no sides except for the waistband if that makes sense - usually you can find those at a Victoria's Secret. Because they are cut so high on the sides they won't show, yet it provides much more security for pads. Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted July 25, 2006 Administrators Report Share Posted July 25, 2006 I think it's time to learn to wear tampons. You are at least 13, or you would not be here. ondine, thank you for your post, but this is the YD forum, so, no parents allowed. And, I think that dancers need to learn to wear tampons by age 13 if they are in ballet classes. Quote Link to comment
NutsaboutBallet
As a Mom, I am sorry to say that I disagree with Ms Leah . If this child isn't comfort with tampons why force the issue? Nude very brief underwear will be fine a few days a month. A year from now when she's in high school she'll probably be more comfortable with the tampon idea. It's really an issue between Mom & Daughter! Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted July 25, 2006 Administrators Report Share Posted July 25, 2006 And this is the Young Dancers board, no parents allowed here. The reason why they should learn to use tampons is that they will be far more uncomfortable in leotard and tights wearing a pad. They are going to have to learn to use them anyway, so might as well avoid the delay. Quote Link to comment
