kellyisthebestintheworld
I've been taking open classes at Pacific Northwest Ballet and I'm doing fairly okay, except for when we do battement frappés at the barre. I never learned them at my studio and I'm totally lost when they do them. I watched the video on the ABT dictionary site but it's still confusing as to where to put my foot in the cou-de-pied position before I extend it...can anyone help break it down for me? Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted July 28, 2006 Administrators Report Share Posted July 28, 2006 Kelly, battement frappé is an exercise that is performed at the barre in every class I have ever seen, in every syllabus and system and method. The problem is that there are different ways of doing it, so you need to watch very carefully when it is demonstrated, to see which version of frappé the teacher is doing. When in doubt, ask! Every teacher should always be willing to explain to a student who does not understand the movement. Quote Link to comment
sballetgrl
In addition to Ms. Leigh's post, I've been at schools where they want the frappes with a flexed or pointed foot. But the teacher should be able to explain to you. And don't be bashful about asking your teachers questions because it shows them that you really want to learn! Quote Link to comment
kellyisthebestintheworld
I'll try to ask her before class. but I've only taken one class from this teacher so I feel kind of nervous/embarassed... I don't know why I never learned these....I'll have to ask my teacher when I go back to the studio in september.. Quote Link to comment
