nzdancer
Not sure this should go here, but a very basic question... who pays for this? Is it run by a grant or arts education funding? Where is it administered from? I guess it's not the most critical information to know, but I was just curious. Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Essentially, the board is paid for by the free-will donations from the members. We have a "fund drive" which is coming up in September, and we'll tell people how to donate through PayPal or any other mechanism we use. We also get a small amount of "finder's fee" from Amazon.com for anybody buying from them through the click-on banner at the top of every page. One of the Administrators (Helene) acts as our treasurer, and makes sure that Invision Power Boards gets paid. Quote Link to comment
AmyKL
About the Amazon bar- does BT get anything if I buy something used? Is it significantly less than what they would get if I bought something new? I've sold on there before and if you list items, Amazon takes a commission, but it depends on how much the item is sold for. I just wondered because I'm getting ready to order some things, and one isn't much more expensive new than used, but the other one has a large difference. I could order the first one new for about $2 more, so if they get more from it new, I will get that one. Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
As I understand it, anything that is sold through Amazon by clicking through the bar on Ballet Talk or Ballet Talk for Dancers does generate revenue for us. Quote Link to comment

Sashinka
Mods, does this only work if you go to amazon.com? I frequently use amazon.ca and would be happy to access it through the above link if theres a way? Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted August 6, 2006 Administrators Report Share Posted August 6, 2006 Good question, Sashinka! I have no clue, but maybe Mr. Johnson will know??? Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Never having had a need for it, I don't know. I tried to access it through the amazon.com search, but that brought me to a bunch of unassociated hardwares, and things about California. When I searched the web via the A9 Search engine at the site, I noted that the URL for amazon.ca had lost our distinctive identifier string, so I guess not. Quote Link to comment
