Books: Marie Anne de Cupis de Camargo

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

A friend recently sent me some information about Marie Anne de Cupis de Camargo, a ballet dancer from the 18th century. She sounds like a fascinating woman who made a lasting impact on ballet as we know it today. I was wondering if anyone knew of a biography written about her. The only one I could come up with was written in 1834, titled Three French dancers of the 18th century: Camargo, Sallé Guimard . Does any one know of another?

Thanks!

Ashley

I think this post will find more readers over on Books/Movies/etc., so I'm going to ask Victoria to move it, ok?

No problem! I did a quick Google on her this afternoon, and while there were several books that seemed to have information on her, I didn't see any bios of just her.

Maybe someone else will know something- also, you may want to post the same question over on Ballet Talk. This seems right up their alley
