Looking for pre-professional program

We thought we had finally found the program for my DD. She was dancing 6 days a week for 20-24 hours per week with pointe classes daily. Her teacher was using a RAD syllabus and got tremendous results for my DD. She improved so much this year and then, her teacher moved back to Canada. I am in a quandry because the teachers that are left are not following a classical based program. I am now looking for a intensive training program that is comparable to the one we had last year. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am willing to move if that is what it takes. Please help, I am at my wits end!

hpswt, there are good programs all over the country, including in Ohio. Where do you want to live? You are going to have to narrow the field a bit here, or you will be getting suggestions for every state in the country and several places in Canada as well!

I guess what I want to do is look at the best options for my DD and then decide whether it is worth the move or not. I was not a dancer and do not have a lot of knowledge on what schools are better than others. I am looking for a school that has RAD syllabus and the intensive training program hours of 20-24 hours a week. Which schools produce the most professional dancers? I am learning what I can as fast as I can, but wanted advice from the pros and other moms who may have an inside track.

I do see what she meant, but I do want to know about other schools in areas in the United States. I am willing to move if the program is what we are looking for. I don't mind getting more information than may be needed and going through it, in fact that is what I am looking for. General information on schools throughout the United states that might work for us.

HPSWT, I really think you will need to broaden your horizons in terms of method if you looking for that kind of program. RAD is not the only one that turns out well trained classical dancers, and it's very hard to find a school in that system that has as intensive a proram as you are looking for. Also, please keep in mind that is the teacher, not the method. ALL of the syllabi are quite fine, but it is HOW they are taught that matters.

There are plenty of threads about the different pre-pro schools and residencies, but I don't think I've ever seen one that teaches RAD. She should be able to cross over easily to another codified syllabus, since she's been taking RAD. Perhaps see if she's interested in some of the residency programs like Harid or Kirov??

I did not realize how hard it is to find RAD schools! LOL DD has had different training in the past, she just seemed to like the RAD syllabus. I do understand the value of a great teacher! We had one and had she stayed in the states we would not be looking. I am looking into other syllabus and schools for my DD. Our important criteria are: ballet technique class 6 days a week, pointe class at least 3 times a week, partnering class, variations, classical repetoire. A performing company for advanced students is prefered and she would like the option of jazz, modern, and possibly tap. She is really missing her teacher because she made my DD push farther than she thought she could go. She would like to find a similar teacher, I guess in looking for a RAD school I was trying to find her another mentor like she had.

The kind of teacher you are looking for can be found in many different methods of teaching. Most of the pre-professional schools have more than one teacher for each level. Some of the schools using Vaganova method will have one teacher on each level for a year.
