sugarplum239
How can you master multiple pirouettes? Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted August 22, 2006 Administrators Report Share Posted August 22, 2006 Well, first you have to get doubles, which you evidently do not have yet, since you asked about that today. Doubles and more are a matter of owning a center of balance, a good position of retiré, a good spot, and no fear of turning. If you think turning is fun, you will turn, assuming you have enough good basic training to understand the technique of a pirouette. Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Another way of looking at it is: To do a double, do a single and don't stop. To do a triple, do a double and don't stop, and so on. Quote Link to comment
L' Allegro
May I add? When you do hit that illusive double/triple, don't jump up in the air and shout "yes!!" no matter how excited you are. I did that, in class, and it was sooooo embarrassing. But that was at a Dolly Dinkle... they just don't understand... Quote Link to comment

PinkSpaghettiShoes
also if you try to do one extra turn in a pirouette than you usually do, the next time you try to do your usual it will seem easier, you will be more confident and do it! anne (confidence is the key!) little_dancer123
Pinkspaghettishoes is right, it's all about trusting yourself to be able to do it. From little_dancer123 x Quote Link to comment
Guest star_reacher
Hello, As everyone has been saying, "Confindence is the key!!!!" It is true, I mean trusting yourself when you are turning helps!! There is also a few other things that I think about while I am turning are right before I start to turn. I think, am I up on my supporting leg while turning and am I spotting the front of the room to gain more turns!! I also always think of how I look in the turn, by means of my foot and leg positions. I hope that this helps!! star_reacher Quote Link to comment
