Guest shybaby
I just started ballet about two years ago and I'm hoping to continue this year, but I'm almost afraid to. All those other girls are so much better then me and have been dancing longer. I don't know what to do, I love to dance, but it's still pretty hard for me and I don't have the vocabulary or all the proper steps down yet. Any advice? Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted August 27, 2006 Administrators Report Share Posted August 27, 2006 ShyBaby, ballet takes a long time to learn properly. Two years is a very short time, so you really cannot compare yourself to dancers who have had a lot more years. Just take your classes and do your best and enjoy it! No one expects someone with two years training, starting as a teen, or almost a teen, to be in the same place as students who started at 6 or 7 or 8. But then, you would not be in the same class with them anyway, so it should not be a problem. Quote Link to comment
Guest shybaby
Thanks for the advice. I just get so down about it sometimes because i want to take this with me all through out my life and I guess my mind is moving faster then I'm learning. Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted August 27, 2006 Administrators Report Share Posted August 27, 2006 Maybe you could take more classes? How many do you have now? Quote Link to comment

Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted August 27, 2006 Administrators Report Share Posted August 27, 2006 Yes, you need more classes and longer classes. Try to find a serious school that offers hour and a half ballet technique classes, and take 4 classes a week if possible. Quote Link to comment
