balletexpert
ive been taking ballet with my current teacher for about 2.5 years. the thing that drives me and my parents CRAZY is how she loves money and overcalculates everything. my parents current problem with her is that she promised to give me credit $ for the classes i missed during the summer if i agreed to take a total of 5 hours a week of ballet classes during each week in the summer. at first my mom didn't want to due to my busy schedule, but because the teacher promised to give us credit, mom agreed. i missed a total of TWO classes. to make things even more complicated she MISCALCULATED our tuition. so basically over the summer, i paid for 29 hours of classes, only went to 25 of them, and only got 2 classes of credit back. now my teacher says that she really did give back 4 hours worth of credit $ when she really didn't! shes really very stubborn... should i quit after this session? i have friends in that class but i supposed i can live w/out them? what do you think i should do? [if i put this in the wrong category please alert me!] Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted September 4, 2006 Administrators Report Share Posted September 4, 2006 Most studios do not give back any money for classes missed, ever. You can make up the classes, but there are no refunds. The teachers and the schools do have to make a living, you know. The primary reason to leave a school would be if the training is not good. If this is the best teacher in your city, then stay. If not, or you are not sure, do some searching. Link to comment
balletexpert
well, yes i do know that many teachers don't give back credit. the thing is, my teacher PROMISED my mom she would give the adequate amount of money back to us since she desperately wanted me to participate in another act of our dance. so therefore, she must keep her promises. Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted September 4, 2006 Administrators Report Share Posted September 4, 2006 Well, if you are unhappy with your teacher, find a new one. I'm sorry, but leaving over two hours or two clases does not sound like a great reason to me. Just ask her if you can make up the classes by taking extra classes now. Link to comment
balletexpert
i mite have worded this wrong, but i didnt mean that i would leave over just two classes. it's just that my teacher is constantly miscalculating everyone's tuition and her disorganizedness is finally getting to me. now her teaching is anything special, im sure there are tons of teachers out there who can teach as well as her. Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted September 4, 2006 Administrators Report Share Posted September 4, 2006 Well, if you are not happy with her, then find a new school. There are some teachers who are not very good with the business end of things. If they are phenomenal teachers, well, people usually put up with it, but if not, then there is no reason to stay. Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted September 4, 2006 Administrators Report Share Posted September 4, 2006 Excuse me, but I have given you advice. If you are not happy with it, I'm sorry. My advice was to leave if you are not happy with the teacher. I don't know how to make it any clearer than that. And, you misquoted me, above. If you wish to quote what I said, please do it accurately. Link to comment
