Laschwen
I have been off my game for a week now with fever, chills and tummy ache. Seemes like the flu. Hubby has a touch of it too. It just seems too early in the season to go down with "the curd" but we have been under unusual stress lately with the aftermath of that plane crash. I missed both ballet classes last week and tried to take it easy. I made it to one water class I think. I had to get to play rehearsals over the weekend though. All I did yesterday was rehearse the two big numbers I am in, which has only quasi dancing (mostly walking around), and I feel like I did after my first few classes back a year and a half ago. Somebody beat me in my sleep for sure....Oh yeah I was feeling it last night too. I don't think I am well yet. My seasonal allergies kicked in yesterday too. That doesn't help. At least we don't rehearse again until the weekend. Being in the chorus has it's advantages with days off. I'd like to get back to class tomorrow too but for now all I want is back to bed. I hope the rest of you are skipping this one. Laschwen Quote Link to comment
ami1436
OMG YES! Right now we're still easing back on classes here, and I'm making the decision on whether I'm going depending on the status of my work, but last week and a half I haven't done any physical exercise - have been totally ick and gross and walking around with socks and sweaters while others are in little cute outfits. ARGH. I thought I was going to go on Saturday but the meds made me so groggy and dizzy and UGH. And let's not even talk about what it's done to my work... At least I'm starting to get better. Guest pink tights
Laschwen--I say blame it all on the dreaded and hated ragweed. I'm hoping for an early hard freeze to kill the vile weeds! Hope you feel better--you too Ami! Quote Link to comment
Laschwen
Laschwen--I say blame it all on the dreaded and hated ragweed. I'm hoping for an early hard freeze to kill the vile weeds! Hope you feel better--you too Ami! Oh yes, the Ragweed! That has got to be a good bit of it. All anybody at rehearsal was naming as the culprit was goldenrod and I couldn't remember the word ragweed. I have never tested positive on goldenrod. At least I got my allergy shot yesterday. I wasn't feverish at the time so I just didn't mention anything but the Sunday flare up. I really have to suck it up and get to class today or I will be seriously depressed on top of feeling sickly. It won't be easy considering I am craving for a movie binge at the cheap theater instead. I figured out there were some moves we did at rehearsal that could have earned me soreness; just from the repetition of the deep squatting poses. There were others present complaining of aching backs while still there so we must have been doing something to work our muscles a lot. Walking around the stage for 2 or 3 hours in high heat and humidity is what it felt like at the time. I know my feet swelled up while we were out there. I still have to do a test run out there with the boots I plan to wear for performances. They may not be big enough for night time and potential swelling. Laschwen Quote Link to comment
Striving for Grace
The sickly-bug is even up here in Canada. I am already sneezing and my nose is running, and the leaves aren't even changing color yet! Everyone on campus seems to be coughing or sneezing. Yup, all 30, 000+ of us Ok, maybe not everyone, but many of us are. Get well soon, folks! We all know how hard it is to dance while ill (not to mention inconsiderate of others) to run our germy, sneezed- or coughed-on hands along the barres. Quote Link to comment
NSMH
Hello to All~ Talked to DD yesterday night~ three company members have the flu...two have strep... two missed rehearsal because of feeling nauseous...four have colds...and three or four have multiple symptoms. DD is feeling light-headed, sucking on Vit.C...eating soup, drinking tea and layering up and going to bed with a heating pad and extra blankets...so, unless I slept through it like Rip Van Winkle, last time I looked it was only Sept. Heck yes, this is way too early... But what can you do~ Keep your spirits up, stay positive and know that this too, shall pass. Take care of you, let all unnecessary things go. Be Good to yourself at this time. Now's not the time to get mad at you body. Its telling you it needs extra attention for whatever reason: flu, allergies etc. May you all be well sooner, than later. Best Wishes~ NSMH Quote Link to comment
WendyMichelle
I've had a terrible tummy ache and been freezing all week. And just a general feeling of "blah-ness." I guess a lot of it is where we work (or go to school, or both!) and then dance on top of it, plus rehearsals, plus anything else we have going on in our lives. I think sometimes we just get run down and feel like...................blah. Quote Link to comment
sugarplum239
knock, knock Sometimes I feel pretty blah too, but if I have a warm shower, massage my feet and put on some big and comfy warm clothes and watch TV- I feel a lot better. Quote Link to comment
kasaba
Despite being on four different allergy meds, I had been having trouble with sinus-induced hoarseness on and off for a month. I finally complained to my allergist, who prescribed an additional nasal spray . . . and I lost my voice altogether. Pretty stinkin' inconvenient as I SING for a living! PS - Laschwen, how's your toe? Quote Link to comment

PS - Laschwen, how's your toe? I get the multiple allergy meds thing totally. It stinks. I don't know how I am supposed to sing in an old tobacco barn, in Kentucky, in the evenings, in October. At least I am not a soloist. My husband is one and he is worried. The toe is better. No more limping. Sore after 3 hour rehearsals in solid shoes! Hurts when I work the flexing and pointing some...to be expected. I did manage a one foot releve here nad there last night in class....a pretty low one anyway. Thanks for asking. I was kind of psyched even if I didn't make it through the whole class with the low energy funk still getting me. Laschwen Quote Link to comment
