Laschwen
My husband doesn't realize how much he was teasing me when he mentioned job openings he qualifies for in Germany. I lived there from 1986 thru the end of 1995 and would go back in a heartbeat. I actually met and Married my Hubby while living there. The irony of it is I had just had the best year of ballet classes ever when we left there before, and now I wonder if there would be anything for me if we went back now that I am finally back in some classes right here after about 10 years off. It is just crazy. The classes I had were through Army youth services and I don't know what is left of that, much less if they would even have a good teacher any more with the transient nature of all things Army. So. If he went for it we would wind up between Heidelberg and Mannhein in maybe Seckenheim or Viernheim. Travel to either one of the larger cities for classes would be fine. I know Heidelberg better from living there but I have spent a little recreational time in Mannheim. It is not the easiest place to get around in a car but the public transport helps keep one from getting lost. Heidelberg had a class I visited a couple of times in a sports type club, but the room was carpeted.....I stick to the marley quite enough now. I still have a few friends in Germany but none of them happen to be into Ballet. One used to teach Jazz in a sports club in a small town called Ketch but she has retired from that. Pity. I visited her classes and loved them. I should contact her...... I am rambling now. I am also dreaming about the possibility but doubt it could happen. The hubby is very attached to local family these days. He did look at the website for the jobs and told me about it.....???? Laschwen Quote Link to comment
Claude_Catastrophique
I am sure you will find adult recreational classes in Germany. I know that there exist some (not thousands but there are) and if you will take enough time to try a couple of studios I am sure you will find one you like. Mannheim or Heidelberg have for sure classes. I don't live close to it therefore I can't give you any recommondations but since they have good schools for kids who want to go pro they I guess that they will also have so sort of open class for adult if you don't find any other school. Dance_Scholar_London
Do you have any specific cities in mind? Quote Link to comment
diane
Oh, yes, there are plenty of schools in Germany! I am here - Germany - too, but not anywhere near where you will possibly be. (Mannheim / Heidelberg) Mannheim has quite a good ballet company, too. -d- Quote Link to comment
shulie
And most schools here offer adult classes- its pretty big business here! However it will be hard to find more than 1 or 2 adult classes a week but if more classes are not your aim anyway it should not be a problem at all to find a nice school for you. I would love to find two classes a week or three if they had a nice price package. I wasn't sure if adult classes...for the 40 up crowd...existed commonly or not. I would go the alternate days to the nearest warm swimming pool to do a water barre or a class if they had one. I remember where a few of those pools are. Hockenheim springs to mind. They have a great water slide. Now I have to get my hubby to apply for one of those jobs he mentioned... Laschwen Quote Link to comment
Dance_Scholar_London
If you are prepared to do some driving, you will find adult classes - depends in which area you live and how much you are willing to pay. Good luck with the applications :-) Quote Link to comment
