insidesoloist
I am currently in the process of looking for some music to which I can choreograph short dances for my students for an informal end-of-the-year showcase. My mother remembers music by Shostakovich, which she recalls as the "Doll Dances". When I asked about them at my local music store, no one knew anything. A quick search online convinces me that they exist but I'm still not sure what they're officially called, and how many there are. I'm seeing listings for Dances of the Dolls from the Gadfly and The Limpid Stream, Op. 97 and 39 and I don't know what that means. Did he have Dances of the Dolls doing double duty? Or did he just make lots of Dances of the Dolls? Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Since it's your mother remembering, I'd almost bet money that these are the Shostakovitch Ballet Suites ## 1, 2 & 3. Quote Link to comment
