Difference between retire and passe?

bailando

Recommended Posts

In terms of usage, there is no difference. They are different names for the same thing. "Retiré" only means "withdrawn". "Raccourçi" means "shortened" and also stands for the same position. "Passé" only describes that the movement continues through to an ending place. So, a "passé retiré" goes from 5th to 5th through the retiré position. Passé isn't really a position, it's a description of a path of travel, but everybody uses "passé" as a position name all the time.
