Guest pink tights
The Sunday New York Times has an article on the PBS documentary "Nureyev: The Russian Years" airing this week on PBS. Check local PBS listings for times. Quote Link to comment

Tuesday
Did anyone happen to catch the documentary? I just finished watching it with DS and we both enjoyed it. DS especially liked seeing all the early footage of Nureyev, but also really enjoyed the way they told the story of Nureyev's defection and the ensuing drama with the KGB. Quote Link to comment
Memo
I just watched it it was beautiful. So much footage that I had never seen before. Fabulous piece. Check out the footage of Sergeii Polunin dancing at White Lodge in one of the montages. Quote Link to comment
Guest pink tights
Fascinating look into the life of an extraordinary artist. I never realized he was born on a train! Loved the footage of a very young Nureyev prior to his defection. Quote Link to comment
Small Slipper
My DD and I watched it and it was really a special piece. Great footage. Quote Link to comment
dance4life56
Last night I watched it and recorded it. It waws really fantastic. It told of his early life and how he came to be such an famous dancer. I would recomend this to anyone! Quote Link to comment
blaise
I'm so irritated I missed it. I wrote it down in my planner and everything. Quote Link to comment
calamitous
We enjoyed this, although DD pretended not to be watching as it has the appearance of being educational. She was interested at the politics behind so much of his life and the defection. I felt justified as she has not believed me in the past when I saw that the arts are highly affected by politics. lsu
Thanks for the heads up on this show, which I know will be shown several times this week on my LPB channel. I have never seen Nureyev dance before and this documentary was fascinating. I guess I will have to look around at some of the tapes that are out on him. Quote Link to comment
balletbooster
It was a very well done documentary! The footage was really great of his early dancing years. The story of the events surrounding his defection was quite compelling. I had no idea that it was such a spur of the moment decision. Wasn't it interesting to hear how the members of the Kirov company viewed the defection, even this many years later? Quote Link to comment
Laschwen
We had a couple of hours of power outage last night. Lightning. I caught only a bit at the end of the program. I was hoping for replays sometime. If anybody notices a time and day in their local schedule, please share. Laschwen Quote Link to comment
