Lower Back

The other day my teacher told me that one of the reasons it was hard for me to get my leg up in arabesque and attitude is because of my short, tight lower back. I'm trying to stretch regurlarly, and I was wondering, what stretches could I use to loosen my lower back?

What stretches are you already doing? Since your teacher has diagnosed the problem, I think she needs to tell you, specifically, what to do about it. If she does not know, then she should recommend someone who does know, like a Pilates instructor.


That said, are you sure that you are moving forward and upward on your standing leg as you try to get your arabesque or attitude leg higher? If you remain rigid and don't move, it is not going to go up.
