November champagne lounge

Well, if I post on the wine couch, I usually want to offset it with a champagne moment if I can. This is not exactly what the champagne lounge is for, but it's a happy moment for me.

My tickets for three Cincinnati Ballet performances came in the mail today. I'll see "Chaconne", "Romeo & Juliet," and my favorite favorite favorite ballet of all time, "Serenade." :speechless:

Did I mention that I really, really like "Serenade"?

...the beginning of my long range plan to go and survive Adult Dance Camp....

Hope to be there, and hope to see you there too! Trust me, if I could survive (last June), ANYONE can. Took me 4 months to wean myself off the naproxen, but well worth it!

My champagne moment is posted on the Adult Students forum - I am finally(!) able to do my pique turns as fast as the rest of the class - in fact I did the last few double speed last week. I can even get the old foot up to retire instead of cheating in cou de pied.

It gives me hope. I'll be in the bottom level at Richmond again next year, but I'll be better than last time!

ADC can be rigorous, but there are tougher events an adult dancer can do. Class, Pilates, and extra stretching will get you ready.

I don't post here often, and it isn't really a champagne moment....more like a "sparkling grape juice", but still...

I've been forcing myself to continue going to a class I was sure was too advanced for dumpy ol' me......during adagios, I'd look like Humpty Dumpty in ballet shoes......

but recently, (as of last night, really) I've noticed I'm actually improving! I can get through the adagios and manage to keep up AND look almost decent! My extensions are looking stronger, and I'm learning the terminology a whole lot better! HUH! Go figure....

Still dreading moving to a new studio, but maybe I'll be slightly decent by the time I get down there....

I had a champagne moment last week Friday - I managed to pull off a few conscious (as opposed to fluked) double en dehor pirouettes from 4th last week, on my "bad" (right) leg!

(Well the previously good (left) leg's ankle is now a bit buggered so i guess the right leg is now the good leg!)

I think I'm getting the hang of it

I'm going to dance full time next autumn.

I'm applying for full time dance training and I've just received my first offer to do a BA in dance.

I'm still applying elsewhere so I don't know where I'm going to end up, but at least I'm going somewhere.

Who would have thought that when I started dancing again 2 years ago!

I am still happy about my first dip into my two a day class plan, but really do have concerns about nagging injuries slowing me down. Of course the stuff the PT is having me do could have me stronger than ever everywhere but that pesky right hip. Even my feet are starting to look and feel better than in a long time.

They also have me pretty much over my fear of using giant ###### for exercise. I think theirs are not quite as inflated as those I have tried before at the YMCA and don't seem so unstable. They don't seem to mind me dripping sweat on them much either.

Get past one little fear at a time huh?

I like little reminders coming up during the year to get my mind working towards that goal a bit more. Thank You old dude. I am guessing I will be in your class this summer. I'll be the one fighting to get my spotting to actually work for a change. It may be a neck range of motion thing and I plan to ask about that in class soon.

Now I have to get back to finding a way to pay for the thing. The plan was to be saving immediately and then there was this pair of dress boots...the first ones sinch childhood that actually come up to my knees rather than mid-calf...and they fit my long skinny feet...and naturally cost a fortune. Well....time to start over the save half of the monthly discretionary cash plan...while paying off the boots. Maybe I will just start shoving cash in a dedicated piggy bank in the house.

I wonder if my husband knows I have plans for the single serving size Champagne bottles he placed in the refrigerator?? Very handy after a good class and I plan to have many of those next month. I'll leave him a beer.
