Yes, you can, and you MUST! Spinal injuries are nothing to fool around with. If the doc says "take it easy", take it as easy as possible. Learn to think about ballet without having to move at all. It will be good for you. Learn the meaning of "dolce far niente". You're lucky. Most spinal injuries would bench you for a lot longer than a month!

Ask the doc if there's any Physical Therapy for what your particular problem is. That might help. And, by the way, welcome to Ballet Talk for Dancers. :)

Oh my! :) That doesn't sound fun, but you can always watch ballet movies and read ballet books! I recomend Suzanne Farrell's- Holding on to Air, just finished reading it and it was really good! :)

I went to the doctor on Friday and learned that my back is still fractured  I am really angry I have to stop dancing... (again) I don't know how long I'll be out and I don't want to lose all my strengths I've worked so hard for. Does anybody know any o.k excrecises that doesn't invole too much movement with the back??? (The docter said I could do some things but not much)

Well I can't reccomend any excercises, but I know that I dislocated my kneecap and was out for about two months. It seems like it takes FOREVER, and its so disapointing to know that you can't go back just yet. I was also afraid I would lose all my muscle, but I have been going to physical therapy and really following their instructions, now that I'm back at ballet I actually feel STRONGER than I did before I ever injured myself! Its a long process, (and a different injury of course), but if you have the determination once you DO get approved for ballet, you'll do fine.

Oh. Oh. Oh, drat!

This is the one where you ask the doctor directly about physical therapy. The therapist will know what you can and can't do, and none of us can help you there. We don't have the licenses, for one thing, and second, it's kinda hard, say, impossible, to advise on a matter like this over the computer!

Whatever you do, keep on recovering!!!

I had a 3rd degree sprain last year on my right ankle. It was so frustrating because I couldn't dance for a good solid 6 months after that. I tried every doctor from here to outerspace and they all said something different. Finally one said to go to physical therapy and I did. Now this was a little over a year ago and I'm still doing what they told me to today. It is the most frustrating thing ever, but you pull through. I feel extremely strong now, and I'm in better shape than ever. You'll be fine!!! Let it heal is all I can say!
