Auditions: yes then no

Just Duet

I applied to go to the audition for Zurich Ballet. I received an email saying I was welcome to come to the audition. I checked my email just now and they said that I was not accepted to attend the audition, without mentioning the previous acceptance email. I already made travel arrangements to go....what should I do?

Send them another email, include the first one they sent as well as the second one, and ask them what is going on! One of them had to be a mistake, and let's hope it's the second one.

Even though you have already made travel arrangements, you may be able to get some of that back or re-arrangement to another location if needed. So, I would print out both emails and then try to speak with someone. While you could just show up with the "yes" email. That is alot of wasted time and money to go if they meant otherwise. We're going to keep our fingers crossed for you that you get the audition.

It is just so strange because they said that Mr. Spoerli reviewed my application and would like me to come, and then the next email comes saying Mr. Spoerli has denied my application. Why would it be both accepted and declined by the same person? I have to go to Zurich no matter what, I cannot get my money back for any of the trip unfortunately and I'm already in Europe so I might as well go. I sent them an email back and forwarded the email so we'll see.

What you got there were two different form letters. The problem was that you were on both lists accept/deny. The job now is to determine which was the wrong letter! The above suggestions are entirely in order.

Feel free to delete if this qualifies as hearsay! This has happened with this company in the past. A friend of mine recieved two emails (on the same day), one saying she could come, one saying she couldn't. She went anyway, was hired, and danced for them for two years. She never found out if she really hadn't been supposed to come! (She thought it best not to ask!)

Dear Ms,

Unfortunately we have made a mistake. We are very sorry for this inconvenience and we kindly ask you to beg our pardon.

Certainly you are kindly invited to attend the audition on 28th January.

Have a nice trip and see you in Zurich.

Halleluja!!!!! I got so worried!

Yes! I will keep you posted. I was at Dutch National Ballet yesterday and although he could not say how may people were leaving he could not offer any contracts until March, he said it was very promising and I may get a contract there. I am in Oslo today. Zurich on Monday.
