lynnatbeach
Advisory Board of the Classical Dance Alliance and the UNESCO International Dance Council Can someone give an explanation of these? When these appear in a description of a ballet school, what does it signify? Thank you! Quote Link to comment
Administrators mom2 Posted February 18, 2008 Administrators Report Share Posted February 18, 2008 UNESCO = United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization. Not sure that a dance SCHOOL could be on the advisory board, but an artistic director might be. http://portal.unesco.org/culture/en/ev.php...ECTION=201.html Quote Link to comment
Mel Johnson
The CDA is a relatively new venture, meeting at various venues. They have a training course for character coming up in June at the Baryshnikov Center (NYC). I wish them good luck and a preservation of high standards. They seem Vaganova-oriented, but that may be a function of who's joined so far. UNESCO is the United Nations Economic, Social and Cultural Organization. The International Dance Council is a subsidiary body within the larger operation of UNESCO, and the United Nations as a whole. Both are reputable organizations. It signifies that the director of the school gets around, and knows some pretty high-functioning people. Quote Link to comment

It signifies that the director of the school gets around, and knows some pretty high-functioning people. Quote Link to comment
