hotchocolategirl
I have a college audition coming up and have to be prepared to perform a variation. I love the music for the La Bayadere variation right before Nikyia dies, but I am worried that it is technically too simple. Do you have any other suggestions for another adagio variation or would this one be fine? Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted March 14, 2008 Administrators Report Share Posted March 14, 2008 Simple??? Excuse me! I don't THINK so! It is 7 minutes long, and besides technique, you have to be one heck of an actress to pull this off, especially if you are doing it without the other people on stage. It is a wonderful variation, but very long for an audition. I would check to see if there is a time limit. I really think this would be far more difficult to dance and sustain than most of the very short classical variations from that ballet. Just because something does not have pirouettes or entrechat sixes does not mean it is simple! I would think long and hard about attempting this one. Link to comment
hotchocolategirl
Sorry I should have mentioned that I was stopping it before her flower variation, right before she sees Gamzetti's gesture towards the prince. Edited March 14, 2008 by hotchocolategirl Link to comment
belski
How about Aurora's wedding variation from Sleeping Beauty? Or Prayer from Copellia? I think Prayer is more adagio. If there is a time limit these would be great. I think they're only around 3 minutes each. This is the Aurora version I do: Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted May 25, 2008 Administrators Report Share Posted May 25, 2008 Very nice suggestions, belski, but, since this thread is from early March, I have a feeling that the decisions were made some time ago. Link to comment
