Sending a Video

I'm interested in applying for a company that requires you to send in a video- a PERFORMANCE video. The company says you have to send in a performance video before they consider you for an audition. The only problem is they don't say how long they want the video to be. Actually, that's not the only problem. I don't have a solo, though I am front and center in a quintet, part of several trios , and I lead a manege. How do I describe where I am? Do I even bother?

Thanks, all!

It would be best for you to film a variation, and perhaps also a contemporary solo and send that. It is very hard to try to figure out one stranger in a group of strangers.

They require that the video be from a performance- so I couldn't use one, say, shot in the studio. Could I get away with saying, "I'm the one dead center"?

Not trying to be difficult- my school only has one performance a year and it's done.

Again, thanks.

L'Allegro, momof3darlings sent me some information yesterday to post for you, and I forgot 'cause my guests arrived and I got busy. So sorry!

She said that there is a way to edit the film so that there is an arrow that will follow you in the performance video. She may have some more info on this, so I will ask her to post it here.

Yes, I am posting here with Ms. Leigh's permission. Your best option is always footage of just yourself, but if you need footage onstage and have no solos, then you can import an arrow to point yourself out in the footage and have the arrow fade away after a certain number of seconds. We had this done for DD's videos to show corp work in addition to her solo work. Most software that allows you to cut and paste your video pieces will allow for this. I'm sorry I can't tell you actually how to do it but a high school student did it for us so I'm sure it's easy to find out. Hope that helps.
