We are tremendously excited to welcome a large number of outstanding male dancers from Bulgaria’s National Academy of Dance Arts to participate in our 2008 Summer Intensive Program. Ballet Chicago already boasts an international student body which draws from countries such as France, Brazil and Australia. But the arrival of these gifted young men from Bulgaria takes our Men’s Professional Ballet Training Program to a whole new level. Each student was hand picked by Mr. Duell this past Spring while he was a guest teacher at the National Academy of Dance Arts. And we are delighted that several women are also joining us from the Academy. Ballet Chicago enjoys a reputation as one of the top Balanchine-based training programs in the country. Lovers of the ballet know the historic significance of George Balanchine’s ballets and the importance of showcasing his masterworks. Perhaps you enjoyed the local performances of the New York City Ballet in 2006 which featured some of Mr. B’s greatest ballets. Ballet Chicago brings his masterpieces to you every year, along with world premieres created for the Ballet Chicago Studio Company by Mr. Duell and guest choreographers. Since 1997, over 200,000 people have enjoyed seeing our students in action – from our annual Nutcracker, to our Spring Repertory performances, our Children’s Educational Activities, our partnership with the International Music Foundation, our Senior Nursing Home Series, and our participation in the Jubilate AIDS Benefit. Sid Smith, dance critic for the Chicago Tribune, wrote a wonderful review of our Spring Swing program in May. And Ballet Chicago alumni are excelling in their careers! In just the past seven years thirty-three of our students have joined a wide range of professional companies including the New York City Ballet and the Royal Danish Ballet! That is an astonishing success rate for any ballet school. We hear often from our students about how they treasure their years at Ballet Chicago, and that the skills and life lessons learned in our studios are invaluable to them! So please join us at the Ballet Chicago Studios on Monday, July 7th between 3:30 pm and 6:30 pm to learn more about us. We look forward to seeing you there. Quote Link to comment
