twinklingdance1990
I know this has been discussed many times in this forum. But i face a similiar problem too. I don't have problems remembering the steps at the barre but it takes me a very long time to remember combinations in the centre. Are there any good ways to remember combinations in a shorter time? Mel Johnson
Combinations come in phrases, unless they're terribly short. It helps to break the combination down into its component phrases, and remember them that way. A simple example would be: glissade-jeté-temps levé; coupé-assemblé-changement. Repeat to the other side. Link to comment

Mel Johnson
Believe it or not, language in ballet makes a big difference. Now that you're in New York, you'll have a lot of learning to do by just simple repetition. When I took class in Japan, French saved me. The corrections sounded to me like: "???????ke ????do??? pas de chat. ?????sen eni?????wa soutenou coupé pas de bourrée." I imagine that you may be in a similar situation, except that your English is excellent. Link to comment
