the_pointe
Sorry, I don't know where exactly this would go... I've just sprained my ankle, and I realize that it takes time to get back into dancing again. Until then, I was wondering what I could do, exersizes, or anything, to keep in shape . I've sprained my ankles many times, and its always taken me a month or so to be able to take class again . Whenever I came back, I always felt weak and out of shape because I didn't know what to do. I'm hoping that I'll be able to heal by the time Nutcracker comes around... Any help is greatly appreciated! Quote Link to comment
Administrators Victoria Leigh Posted October 10, 2008 Administrators Report Share Posted October 10, 2008 the pointe, a sprained ankle should really not take a month to heal, unless it is an incredibly bad sprain, or, it is not taken care of properly at the outset. RICE is the key, and it really does work. Plus some anti-inflammatory medication, like Advil or Aleve. Follow the directions and do not abuse. As for what to do, watch all your classes and LEARN!!! It can be a very profitable time, if you use it well. Study what the teacher is doing and why, what she is asking for and what she is really getting, and try to learn to see the difference. Take Pilates or Gyrotonics classes to stay in shape. [Moved this topic to YD because I really don't think it's medical issue as much as one that can be handled by teachers.] Quote Link to comment
